Colombian American artist Gladys Waters discovered late in life that the blood that runs through her veins is that of an artist. Her late father Luis Enrique Celedon was a talented artist in Colombia and with his inspiration she now follows in his footsteps.
Gladys and her husband moved to the beautiful city of Redding three Years ago. This is where she found her passion for painting. In May 2018 Gladys was named Emerging Artist by Shasta County Arts Council. She also was one of the finalists of the 33rd Annual National Painting Exhibition, North Valley Art Gallery in Redding, CA in September 2018.
Gladys had a solo show at the Colombian Consulate in San Francisco California from February to June 2019. She also had an individual exhibition at the Main Street Gallery in Weaverville, California in August 2019.
In January 2020, Gladys participated in the show “Awakening” performed by the Stefan Baumann's art students. Starting March 2020 there will be a three month solo exhibition at the Shasta County Office of Education in Redding, California.
Among the different techniques used by Gladys, her favorite is oil painting on canvas and panels. Her biggest inspiration is nature, people energy, love, smiles, and the simple daily life. Although she is always willing to let herself be carried away by her inspiration.
Currently Gladys exhibits her art in galleries and exhibitions. She attends painting classes and workshops by renowned artist Stefan Baumann.
